Kiosk Chronicles #2

Look after yourself this October

tober! What a wonderful time of year on the beach. Summertime ends and Autumn begins, but it’s not so cold that we can’t still enjoy the outdoors. However, as seasons change, so can our mood.

Good mental health is vital to well-being so with World Mental Health Day on 10th October here are The Dip top tips to help you prepare for winter.

Get Outdoors

A bracing walk isn’t just good for your body, it’s good for your mind and spirit. Connecting with nature can help reduce stress and improve mood.

Connect

Much as you may want to grab a blanket and retreat, relationships make life better. Switch off the screen, talk to friends, and go out. Community hubs like Cuppa have loads of meetups you can join even if you are on your own – www.facebook.com/CuppaFelixstowe – Can’t stop scrolling? Join an online group!

Get a New Hobby

As nights get longer, imagination and creativity are your friend! Knitting, reading, sewing, photography, instruments, singing. The list is endless! From the Wool Baa to Sewing School, WAMFest, Art, Photography and music – there are lessons to be had, artists to watch, and creative things to inspire. Like Drawing? Catch a Sunrise

Whether you’re a keen photographer, upcoming artist or someone that just loves gazing at nature. Every sunrise gives you a new beginning! It’s later too so more accessible than in Summer.

Best spots:

  • Languard Point – Infinitely drawable, spectacularly historical, the old pier and views of the Port make a stunning backdrop.
  • Beach Street – Art Deco meets Industrial chic right next to the Big Wheel.
  • The Pier – Felixstowe’s best-known landmark. Perfect for vintage meets modern.
  • Cobbold’s Point – These coastal defences are some of the most photographed structures in town!
  • Felixstowe Ferry – Upturned hulls, historical houseboats and the Deben Estuary add maritime charm all year round.
