Richard Bennett Felixstowe Coastal 10M

The Dip is the Perfect Viewing Spot

This race is very close to our hearts here at The Dip as it was one of the first races that I went to support Jonny as my then new boyfriend 5 YEARS AGO!!! (Awwwww) 🙂

We waited up at the Spa Pavillion to cheer him on and help him raise some money for charity and wondered how far up to the Ferry the runners went!

Racetime is here again and guess what? It runs straight past The Dip Kiosk – not just once as in previous years – but TWICE – so where better to grab a coffee, grab your seat and spur runners on towards The Old Felixstowe Ferry? Come and join us on a sunny sunday morning.

Cliff Road has signs saying it will be closed from 8 am til 12, but there may still be access so that the road is not completely cut off – get there early to park up or have a lovely walk down.

Richard Bennett

Dr Richard Bennett who sadly took his own life in 2013 due to severe depression. Dr Richard Bennett was an avid runner who was well-known in not just the running community but the Felixstowe community.

Since his death, the Richard Bennett Felixstowe Coastal Race was named in his honour to raise awareness and raise money for local mental health charity Suffolk Mind, so please do all you can to support this amazing event.

We will be holding a collection and sending all donations received at the Kiosk to Suffolk Mind from now til Sunday.

The Course

“The course is mostly tarmac promenade, pavement or road but between the Ferry and the Martello Tower there is a stretch of sometimes heavy shingle and so because of this we are sorry to say it is not suitable for wheelchair competitors.”

We’ve been doing the couch to 5k so we’ll be having a little run before the road is closed so if you’re up early, we’ll be open at 7.30 am to miss the road closures.

The Dip Kiosk Felixstowe is owned and run by Jackie Hole and her partner Jonny Levett, and is open all year round weather permitting.
